Move Your Body/Bust A Move!

The benefits of moving the body are endless! Did you know that exercise promotes new stem cell production? You literally make new life in your body when you work out. This is the story I remind myself to keep on the movement train. Moving your body makes internal movement. Movement is an often neglected fundamental aspect of living. Exercise is great for the lymph system, skin, muscles, bones, cardiovascular health, digestion, and mood and emotions. Maybe we should ask what moving the body CAN’T do 🙂

Movement also helps all of the pathways of elimination function well. In this chemical world, keeping these well functioning is crucial to help detoxify the body.

I know some of you think you don’t like how sweaty you get, but come on, let’s glisten together and get rid of what our bodies shouldn’t be holding onto!

It is remarkable to me the number of people today who do not move their bodies. There is no judgement on my part, because I get how hard it can be to consistently move the body. For me, exercise was, for years, a stressful word. I would exercise and feel like a truck hit me! I never experienced the elation that many did after exercise. However, youthfulness and longevity are clearly linked to moving the body, so any mindset and obstacles must be overcome to cover this one basic of health.

I know people who put off their plan to exercise because they think they have to run or hit perfection with a huge workout plan. This just isn’t the case. It is better to begin to move than wait for perfection in life to execute a plan. You don’t have to join a gym, you don’t have to buy expensive equipment. You don’t have to wait for ideal conditions. You don’t have to set aside large amounts of time all of the time. Waiting for the perfect circumstances is a self-imposed barrier we can all live without. You can do small increments. Every bit of movement in the day adds up!

Being an entrepreneur and solo parent, I began to schedule meetings with co-workers on a walk or hike! There is nothing better than creating synergy and having collective energy as you move your body alongside friends, family, or co-workers

Do you have to be a marathon runner to get fit? NO! Doing what moves your soul is much more sustainable.

Why not:

  • Dance with your kids to all kinds of music
  • Yoga (Restorative is my fave!)
  • Get fresh air and sunshine while walking your neighborhood (talk to your neighbors!)
  • Go to new, local parks and play games or hike trails
  • Ride a bike
  • Start a movement based fitness group
  • Roller Skate
  • Kayak
  • Stretch
  • Pilates –
  • Swim
  • Rebound (I LOVE THIS!)
  • Free weights (crucial for youth and longevity)
  • Try new things, change up the routine

The whole message is this; don’t wait any more to move your body. If you want to have a youthful vigor and verve, you must just MOVE! Get out there and have so much fun doing it. Include your family and friends to make a party out of it. The results are transformative.

When I began this journey for myself, I recognized that large shifts came when I moved my body. Dancing with my kids became a regular event, so I spent time with them while moving my body. I didn’t have extra time to spare, so I created synergy by using time spent with them as physical activity. It WORKED. It is definitely part of my own success story.

So, who wants to go on a hike with me?
